Sit with me
Hi and welcome to "In conversation with June"!
I've long wanted to do this and I don't know why I never did.
A little bit about me. I was born in London, raised in Lagos and moved back to the UK when I was 17 to study.
I went to UCL and studied Economics and found myself on a very windy career path.
I started on the news floor covering syndicated loans at Thomson Reuters, then joined Silicon Valley Bank (yep, that one) in 2011. That was really when I started loving my job. I was thrown into this world of startups and innovation which I knew nothing ab0ut. I also had forgotten how much I loved learning new things. I was a straight A student during my A-levels. Couldn't put my books down because I was so curious!
Fast forward to 2015, I had my second child and knew that I needed to change something as I was falling into the corporate career trap that I new I didn't belong in.
I then found myself starting a community of women learners who wanted to learn to code and all the exciting things the world of technology had to offer. This became Mums in Tech - which I ran for 3 years.
Since then I have been investing in startups including Lick, Mantle, Ruka, By Rotation, Sojo, Code first Girls, investing across Europe and Africa and fighting for equal access to capital for all founders.
